The Contra Costa Ballet Centre’s Summer Program features an extensive curriculum with an international faculty of the highest caliber and experience. The students follow a carefully structured syllabus designed to gradually increase their technique, stamina and discipline in accordance with their physical and mental development. Although challenging and intense, the program offers encouragement, support, individual attention and counseling within a nourishing environment.

The SUMMER INTENSIVE PROGRAM is for intermediate and advanced students in Classes 4 through 8. These classes receive a minimum of three classes per day, Monday through Friday, and two classes each Saturday. The curriculum consists of technique, pointe or men’s class, classical variations, character, contemporary dance, and physical conditioning which is a Pilates based strength and stretch class designed to address the dancer’s individual needs and areas of weakness. Seminars on injury prevention, nutrition and other dance related topics are held in addition to the regular class schedule. Students may take additional classes as their schedules permit at no additional cost.

PERFORMANCE

On Saturday, August 9th, the Summer Program ends with a workshop performance and reception for all Class 4 through Class 8 students who attend the full program. The students perform selected pieces from their repertoire, character, contemporary and variation classes. It provides a wonderful finale for both dancers and guests.
