CLASSES & PROGRAMS
EXPERIENCE WORLD-CLASS TRAINING
IN A NURTURING ENVIRONMENT
Since 1967, the Contra Costa Ballet Centre’s program has served the development of students from their first encounters with music and movement to becoming accomplished professional dancers. Taught by an international faculty with extensive teaching and performing experience, students are imparted a wealth of unparalleled knowledge and expertise.
There are three separate divisions, each of which are carefully designed to introduce the correct technique and instruction appropriate for the age and physical development of the student: Children's Division (ages 3 1/2 - 6), Student Division (ages 7 - 18), and Adult/Open Division (adults and teens ages 13+).

CHILDREN'S DIVISION
3½ - 6 years old
These classes introduce our youngest dancers to the dynamics of dance through structured exercises that develop musicality and coordination skills, while creatively engaging their bodies and imagination. Classes are offered in three age-appropriate levels: Pre-Ballet (ages 3½ - 4), Basic-Ballet I (ages 5 - 6) and Basic Ballet II (ages 6 -7).
STUDENT DIVISION
7 - 18 years old
The Student Division curriculum is carefully designed to introduce the correct technique and instruction at the appropriate age and physical development of the student. While some students may go on to pursue professional careers, the focus of training is on the excellence and joy of dance at each level of achievement. Classes are offered at seven progressive levels of achievement.
OPEN DIVISION
13 years old - adult
The Open Division is designed for students who wish to begin or continue dance training for health, recreation, self-enrichment or vocation. Classes emphasize overall body conditioning and encourage an aesthetic appreciation of dance and its related arts. Students may join classes at any time throughout the year, and a wide variety of day and evening classes are offered for those interested in the many physical benefits of dance training.
ONLINE SUMMER INTENSIVE
8 - 19 years old
The Contra Costa Ballet Centre’s Online Summer Program offers interactive, live instruction for Levels 1 through Advanced dancers, by a highly-developed faculty with years of experience both as dance educators and performers. Our directors and faculty have collectively worked with the most prestigious ballet institutions in the U.S., including American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, and San Francisco Ballet. Students follow a Russian-based, yet truly American syllabus. The curriculum has been adapted as appropriate for an online environment and consists of ballet technique, pointe, character, and electives such as modern, Flamenco, anatomy, and Pilates mat class.
